Meet Rachel Hood

You and I share your vision for a state with thriving school districts, affordable college educations, living wage jobs, safe and equitable communities and abundant clean water.

Serving the Grand Rapids community is my way of life. I’ve led and contributed to initiatives in West Michigan for nearly twenty years. Now, my husband Dave and I are raising two girls, ages 7 & 8. Dave launched our family business, City Built Brewing, here in 2016.  Since that time I've been working for Chase Park Grants & Dig Deep helping small and mid-sized cities finance and deliver water infrastructure planning initiatives, and projects.

We are invested here and I’m committed to ensuring that our family and yours have the resources we need to thrive. That is why I'm running for Michigan's 76th House District seat in 2018.

You may know me best from my work to build environmental education experiences, protect our water and promote energy efficiency at West Michigan Environmental Action Council . Or maybe you recall my work as the Executive Director of West Grand Neighborhood Organization, the months I spent co-founding Local First, or perhaps from my years at Metro Health Hospital. Whatever the case, I was doing positive work that put people first, with planet and profit balanced alongside.

Like you, we won't watch the progress of our families, school districts, and cities make, crumble under a deluge of bad decisions from state and federal lawmakers. Dave, our girls, and I are committed to making Michigan the Greatest Great Lake State once again. We are “all-in” and for us, that means our family will make the sacrifices necessary to protect the 76th District House Seat for Grand Rapids and Michigan. I look forward to meeting with you and to serving you in Lansing, where I will be fighting to make Grand Rapids and Michigan an even better place to live, work and play.

Thank you for being part of this great community and for all we will do together to keep the 76th!
