Education Unions Endorse Rachel Hood for

State Representative

(Grand Rapids) — Rachel Hood, Democratic candidate for State Representative in Michigan’s 76th House District, has been endorsed by the Michigan Education Association, American Federation of Teachers and the Grand Rapids Education Association.

Hood has led and contributed to initiatives in West Michigan for nearly twenty years. Her work ranges from building environmental education experiences at West Michigan Environmental Action Council, serving as Executive Director of West Grand Neighborhood and co-founding Local First Grand Rapids.

Now, Hood is running for State Representative in Grand Rapids’ 76th House District to fight for investment in health and wellness for all, equal access to economic opportunity, a safe environment and clean water, and quality education from pre-school to post-grad.

“As a parent of school-aged children, I’m invested in the Grand Rapids Schools District and I care deeply about education funding and policy in Michigan,” Hood said. “I will fight to ensure our kids have a state-of-the-art education system that invests in early childhood education, safe and healthy school environments, increased per-pupil spending, and affordable college and technical skill programs.”

Hood has also been endorsed by Grand Rapids Public Schools Board President Wendy Falb and members Tony Baker, Katherine Downes Lewis, along with State Board of Education Member Lupe Ramos-Montigny
